Why a Community Fund?

You asked, and we answered! We’ve heard from countless individuals who want to get more involved with Newman’s Own Foundation, including through donating funds to support our nonprofit organizations.

We could have just set up a donation page on our website, but we wanted to do something that reflected our values, in our own innovative and participatory way.

So we decided to create a Community Fund as a gathering place—for participatory grantmaking; for conversations about food justice, school nutrition, and children with serious illnesses; and for supporting incredible organizations that are nourishing and transforming the lives of children facing adversity.

We welcome your input in whatever way is meaningful for you. We hope you will decide to make a donation, as our fantastic grantee partners could always use more financial resources, but that is not required to be a member of our community. Our community is one of ideas and participation. We look forward to building it together!

And as a reminder, when you buy a Newman’s Own product, you’re already supporting our work! Newman’s Own Foundation owns Newman’s Own, Inc., a food company, and 100% of the profits of the food company, along with royalties from third party licensees, go to the Foundation. The Foundation then grants out these funds to nonprofit social impact organizations in service of our mission. So for anyone who ever bought Newman’s Own products such as the pasta sauce, frozen pizza, or salad dressing, thank you for your support!

Want to know even more? The Newman’s Own Community Fund is housed at the Grapevine Giving Foundation, and contributions are eligible for tax deduction in accordance with the law. Grapevine Giving Foundation will furnish a tax receipt for donations. 100% of your donations will be used entirely to provide support to Newman’s Own Foundation grantee partners. This support will be channeled through distributions from the Community Fund within Grapevine Giving Foundation, following guidance from Newman’s Own Foundation.
