Newman’s Own Foundation x DonorsChoose Match: +$100k to Nutrition Ed & School Food Projects!
We’re thrilled to announce that Newman’s Own Foundation is providing $100k in matching donations on the DonorsChoose platform to help teachers across the country implement nutrition education and school food projects. Starting May 13, 2024, all individual donations on DonorsChoose—to projects focused on nutrition education and school food in low-income, highly diverse schools (called equity focus schools) across the U.S., grades K-12—will be doubled until the $100k match total has been reached.
DonorsChoose is an incredible platform that makes it easy for anyone to help a teacher in need, with the goal of moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences to support a great education. The platform is a website where teachers can post requests for classroom resources. It was founded by a former teacher who was surprised by the amount of money that public school teachers pay out of pocket to equip their classrooms and fund special projects. Since launching in 2000, teachers at most U.S. public schools have requested resources through the platform.
This match campaign strives to continue our commitment to more participatory, open, and transparent grantmaking. Additionally, through June 11, public schools (and other eligible organizations) can apply for our Food Justice for Kids Prize. Through these efforts, we hope to find and fund inspiring and impactful grassroots projects.
Let’s join together to nourish and transform the lives of children by supporting the folks who show up every day for our children in schools across the U.S.
