Farm to School Roundtable

To celebrate National Farm to School Month, Newman’s Own Foundation convened a special roundtable discussion with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and several of our grantee partners working to increase access to locally grown, culturally relevant foods in schools.

Speakers:

“I remember when we were promoting school gardens before they were cool in the 1990s, and now 74% of school districts are doing Farm to School!…Even though it takes time to get there, knowing that all those things we thought were impossible are now fact and truth today, should give us all hope that what we’re doing now is going to impact the future.” —Julie Brewer, Director, USDA, FNS Office of Community Food Systems

The mission of Newman’s Own Foundation is to nourish and transform the lives of children who face adversity, under three core programmatic areas: Joyful Experiences for Children with Serious Illnesses; Nutritious Food in Schools; and Indigenous Food Justice for Youth. The Foundation continues Paul Newman’s commitment to use all the money that it receives from the sale of Newman’s Own products to support children, their families, and their communities.
